J & J Ostrožovič tokaj winery



J & J are the initials of Jaro and Jarka - husbands who established their winery in Tokaj region of Slovakia. As they said - A good wine cannot be made without love so they share their love to each other and to wines too. In 1990, when policital system in Czechoslovakia changed and when also their first son was born, Jaro and Jarka set up a private company to produce the best Tokaj wines in Slovakia.



They settled down in the heart of Tokaj, the village Veľká Tŕňa.  Nowadays J & J Ostrožovič take care of 60 hectares of fully productive vineyards, and because they take care of their vineyards good and the wine is born in vineyards, their work gains them a lot of awards on national and also international wine competitions. Don't forget to visit Velka Tŕňa and their winery, there are plenty of possibilities to relax in their lovely guest house!

About Tokaj region

Region of Tokaj in Slovakia is an  area of winemaking and viticulture in basin of river Bodrog. This region is historical and territorial part of vast region of Tokaj, which has its major part spread in Hungary (about 5 000 ha) in comparison with Slovak Republic, where only 907 ha were determined by law. What's special onTokaj region? Only here you can find stony hillsides of an old volcano, which is warmed up by a lovely warm breeze from Hungarian puszta and only here you can find a noble rot Botrytis Cinerea, the base of Tokaj selections.   Tufaceous wine cellars are protected by oak barrels, in which the wine rouds and gains bread taste.
